Linking type information

The construction, infrastructure and energy sectors have different types of information. Textual information, 2D and 3D information, documents. A piece of text, a point on a map, an object in a 3D model and a physical document can all be about the same asset. You want to be able to control this consistency. The power of the Wistor platform is to link these type information with each other and make them visible in context.

Data-centric over application-centric

The strength of the platform is the integration of information. As such, it is not a replacement for (legacy) software, such as 3D modelling software or a Document Management System. The Wistor platform complements these applications and fits into any IT landscape. The existing data and standards are leading, the platform adapts to them. It creates order and insight into the amount of data. The deployment of Wistor is a first or follow-up step in data-driven working. From data to information and from information to knowledge.

Wistor is flexible and scalable. Through its various modules, but also through configurable functionalities. Define the data quality requirements yourself and ensure this is validated automatically. Analyse on factual information and get the insight you need to make decisions. Whether it is about the completeness of a building’s or work environment’s properties, or the 3D geometry rules of bridge. Scalability and flexibility are cornerstones of the Wistor platform.


Working with open data formats and standards is natural in Wistor. IFC and Linked Data languages such as RDF(S), OWL and SHACL. Modelling standards like NEN 2660 and BIM-related standards like NL-SfB and BIM Basis ILS. Wistor knows how to deal with them.

Data in Wistor adhere to principles of findability, accessibility, interoperability and reusability. In other words, data is FAIR, we make sure of that. Satisfying FAIR principles means focusing on a computer system’s ability to find, access, collaborate and reuse data without or with minimal human intervention. This is because people increasingly rely on computer support to deal with data due to the increase in volume and complexity.

2D and 3D geometry is visible in the integrated viewer. The viewer is interactive, allowing access to related information from the 2D or 3D model. Think of alphanumeric information such as relations and properties, or related documents. But you can also query the model. Highlight objects to better understand where something is located.

Wistor adapts to the data that is available. Extract and integrate data from multiple sources on the platform. Make the data valuable and make the right decisions on this data. The valuable combined information can be distributed to other systems, or exchanged with another party on the basis of an (open) standard. In this way, Wistor is the bridge between parties, between different systems and within a project.

A lot of integrated data is a source for inference. Make queries and draw conclusions. With the scalability and flexibility of the platform, you decide what you want to know, not the software.

Wistor integrates data, but also ensures its consistency and structure. This can be based on open standards, or a home-made BIM protocol or Information Delivery Specification (ILS). Large datasets are automatically verified. Before it goes to the client, before it is pushed to systems or when data is received. Human repetitive verification work is a thing of the past.
